Dove grey #7
About 30 years ago Jos had promised himself to want a Volvo PV444 B from 1951. But then there was no money and they were also hard to find.
And the slurring of life went on, always looking at an obscure eye for the wanted car.
Now, when the slurry of work has shifted to the hobby, there was a restard of itching: such a PV with bump overriders and a "cuckoo" on the roof, or, as the Sweden say, a "takgök".
Beginning in 2017, due to the acquisition of a PV444 A instruction book from a member of the Svenska Volvo Clubs, named Per, a spontaneous mail contact arose.
In that he offered, among other things, if Jos wanted something special for a PV, he could use his contacts in Sweden. So he was aware of Jos looking for a PV444 B. Per indicated that it would not be easy and suggested a PV444 D, after all the same performance. That was a possibility as well.
When Jos payed a visit to the Concours d'Élégance at the Palace Het Loo in Apeldoorn on July 2, 2017, he spotted a PV444 with a "cuckoo". He thinks I'll have a look at it, but I better to go now, because there probably will be a good price tag.
The doubt strikes, maybe better leave the field, so are the thoughts, but his legs are driven by a different feeling and slowly he approaches the PV and it seemed to be in an impeccable condition, certainly for the age of 65 years old, and also appears for sale ...
How the afternoon went on, there are still vague memories, the head was full of this PV444 DS, such a chance in thirty years if Jos did not let go.
Ultimately, this PV444 DS is literally added to our collection on July 2nd, 2017 at 19.30.

The PV444 DS was registred on the January 1st, 1952 to the first owner and remained in the family until the PV was transported to the Netherlands in June 2017 to be sold.
Within the family, the first owner's son took over the PV. When Jos bought this PV, the odometer showed 82090 detectable kilometers.
In the car, a won cup adorned as a public award in 2010 and an old deed bag full of the paperwork history of the car, such as bills of maintenance and the inspections that took place in Sweden at that time, as well as the membership of the Svenska Volvo Clubs.
The information shows that the car has never been welded, but it was repainted externally in 1982.
All chrome, trim and aluminum grill are in impeccable condition.
After the purchase, the route has been started at the RDW for obtaining a Dutch registration.
After two visits, filling in the required forms and the hammering of the chassis number, the license plate DZ-43-31 has been issued. For the Dutch law, the chassis number must be stored. At the 1952 PV, the chassis number is only reported on a plate mounted in the engine compartment.

PHOTO-ALBUM
While visiting the Volvo Fair 2017 in Rosmalen, the first position was Volvodrive. And what's on sale: a miniature in the same version as the PV444 DS.
The same feelings as July 2, 2017 came up.
Never before seen such model and never expected this scale model to exist.
The transport home was a little easier than the model 1:1.
