Gé's very first Volvo, the start of an endless hobby.

It's 1973. Gé drove a Citroen AK400, called Duck Van. From Dirk-Jan de Vroome (Kang) he could buy a PV and was allowed to drive it for two weeks. He was hooked. An acquaintance of his father, -Gerrit Jansen- a Volvo-man at heart, who owned a car workshop together with Gé's uncle Sander in Arnhem. This Gerrit put the car on the bridge and advised against buying.

Shortly afterwards Gé met Jan Tichelaar and his girlfriend Mariet. Just back from a months tour through Europe with their Volvo Amazon P130 from 1965 with registration number FR 64-51 with a damaged right door and bad mudguards. Gé took over this car for about ƒ1500, = and started working.

Cut off rotten reinforcing members and replaced them by square
aluminum pipes. Two used mudguards and subsequently straightened the car in his own way. When it came back from the paint shop in Bemmel (arranged by his father) it was clear that Ge has still a lot to learn: the doors were as tight as the famous Citroen Duck Van site plates ....
The cars colour had been changed into color 96 - dark blue.

Gé has driven this car daily from 1973 to 1987. In March of that year on the Apeldoornseweg in Arnhem a Volvo 745 drove into the boot of the Amazon. Of the insurance money he bought all new metal parts: all boot parts and door panels. In the fourteen years of use the car was refurbished twice. First time was in 1977, the second time early '80s. It colour changed to black, the gearbox tunnel has been replaced by a P1800 tunnel: he wanted a short lever. The engine has been replaced by a B20.

Early 2001, Harry Veldhuis started stripping the car and started a new restoration. All rust was removed very tidy and completely renovated. October 2001, this job is done and now the car waits on tightning and spray painting ... (which is now almost 20 years... Time flies...)
